GourmIndia Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of the Swiss Alps, GourmIndia has been a cherished part of the community since its establishment in 2007, renowned for its premium, high-quality, and authentic Indian cuisine. Despite being a beloved go-to restaurant for locals, GourmIndia’s branding and communication did not reflect the same standards of excellence as its culinary offerings. The existing branding came across as more akin to a generic Indian diner, lacking the sophistication and unique charm that GourmIndia truly embodies. Recognising the need for a refresh, they sought to elevate their brand presence while preserving the strong equity built over the years. The rebranding goals were clear: retain the essence of GourmIndia’s authentic Indian cuisine, appeal to both local Swiss patrons and Indian tourists, and move away from stereotypical and traditional imagery. The aim was to craft a brand narrative that felt both luxurious and welcoming, ensuring a harmonious alignment between the restaurant’s interior design, food quality, overall experience, and its newly refined brand identity.
We began our rebranding process by delving deeply into the culture and vision of GourmIndia. Our research explored various facets of the brand, starting with its Indian soul, deeply rooted in a land of richness, royalty, and diversity. We examined the brand’s personality, which is inherently elevated, sophisticated, and authentic, embodying a unique blend of tradition and modernity. We also considered the essence of Indian cuisine, celebrated for its generosity, sharing portions, and a tapestry of unique flavours that leave a lasting impression. Additionally, we identified the core values that define GourmIndia: a commitment to community, exceptional service, uncompromising quality, cultural appreciation, and the harmonious fusion of two worlds. These insights laid the foundation for creating a brand identity that honours GourmIndia’s heritage while positioning it as a refined dining destination that resonates with both locals and tourists.
We crafted the positioning statement “Symphony of Flavours” that beautifully encapsulates GourmIndia’s essence, blending the rich diversity of Indian cuisine with a refined, harmonious dining experience.
For the new identity, we utilised a stylised typeface that is both edgy and sharp, providing an elevated and contemporary look. The brand mark draws inspiration from the spice boxes commonly found in Indian kitchens, a nod to the rich foundation of Indian culinary culture.
The colour palette was inspired by the rich, vibrant jewels worn by Indian royalty, reinforcing the brand’s luxurious narrative and evoking a sense of opulence and grandeur.
The visual language adopted a minimalistic approach, drawing inspiration from the elegant arches found throughout Indian architectural history, seamlessly blending tradition with modernity.
Every touchpoint was meticulously crafted to reflect the brand’s foundation of presenting the new India to the world—an India that is rich, modern, forward-looking, and ready to make its mark without losing its roots and authenticity. From coasters to uniforms, menus to signages, each element was designed to embody this vision.
We also brought the brand to life on digital platforms by designing a website that not only tells GourmIndia’s story but also serves as a functional tool for table reservations and online ordering.
